The short version
Wreath & Watt earns a commission when you buy something through the links on this site. It costs you nothing extra. It does not change the order of the picks. No product on this site has been supplied to us free of charge, because none has been supplied at all.
Amazon Associates
Wreath & Watt is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.
In practice that means: if you click a buy button here, land on Amazon and buy the product, Amazon pays us a small percentage of the sale. The price you pay is exactly the same as it would have been had you gone to Amazon directly.
How the links work
Every buy button on this site points at a path on our own domain that looks like /go/<product>. That page does two things and then sends you on:
- Records that a buy button was clicked, so we can tell which pages are useful.
- Adds our Amazon tracking tag and redirects you to the product on Amazon.
The reason for the intermediate step is maintenance rather than tracking: it lets us change where a product link points — a new model, a dead listing, a better offer — in one place, without rewriting the page it appears on.
Every affiliate link carries rel="sponsored nofollow", which is the correct machine-readable signal that a link is commercial. We do not disguise affiliate links as editorial ones.
What commission does not change
- The rankings. Scores are computed from published manufacturer specifications against criteria printed on each page. Commission is not an input.
- Which products get covered. Products are chosen because readers are searching for them, not because of what they pay.
- The rate, product to product. Because it is essentially the same across everything we link to, there is nothing to bias toward.
- Whether we say something is bad. Every ranked page carries at least one “skip this” pick, with a stated reason. Those still carry links, because a reader who wants it anyway should be able to find it.
Products we earn nothing from
Several brands that matter in these categories do not sell through Amazon, and we have not joined an affiliate program with any of them:
- Balsam Hill and King of Christmas — premium artificial trees, sold direct.
- Trimlight — dealer-installed permanent lighting, quoted per linear foot by a local installer.
We name them anyway, because a comparison that pretended they did not exist would misrepresent the category. Those entries have no buy button, and the page says explicitly that we earn nothing there.
Prices
Prices shown on this site come from a live price layer and carry the date they were checked. A price older than 48 hours is not displayed at all — the cell falls back to “Check price” instead, because a stale number looks like information and is not.
We never quote a price in prose, and we never write “about” or “around” a figure. Prose does not update; a price layer does.
What we track
We use Google Analytics to see which pages are read and which buy buttons are clicked. That is aggregate traffic data, not a profile of you, and we do not sell it to anyone. Full detail on the privacy page.
Why this page exists
US Federal Trade Commission guidance requires that a material connection between a publisher and a seller be disclosed clearly, in a place readers will actually see it. That is why this page exists, why it is linked from the footer of every page, and why a short disclosure appears above the first buy link on every page that has one, rather than being buried here.
