What separates them is construction: whether the skirt is a single layer of printed fabric or two layers with a finished edge, and whether anything on the back stops it sliding on a hard floor.

The Ivenf red burlap skirt takes the top spot on published double-layer construction. A single-layer skirt creases into permanent folds after one season in a box; two layers with a finished edge come out flat, and that is the difference you notice in year three rather than year one.
Why 48 inches, and when it is not enough
The arithmetic
- A 48 in skirt covers a circle of area 3.14 x 24^2 = 1,809 sq in
- 1,809 / 144 = 12.6 sq ft
- A typical artificial tree stand is about 24 in across
- That leaves a 12 in band of skirt all the way round for presents to sit on
A 48 in skirt gives about 12.6 sq ft, with a 12 in usable band outside a standard stand. On a 9 ft tree with a wider stand, that band shrinks fast.
The practical read: 48 inches is right for a tree up to about 7.5 feet on a standard stand. On a 9-foot tree, or a stand with a wide footprint, measure the stand first — the same measurement that decides a collar, on Christmas tree collars.
The back of the skirt is the half nobody checks
A skirt sits on a floor and gets knelt on, walked past and pulled at every time somebody reaches under the tree. On carpet that is fine. On wood, tile or laminate, an unbacked skirt slides, and it takes the presents with it.
The EDLDECCO skirt is the only one here publishing a felt backing, which is why it ranks second despite a less robust face construction. On a hard floor that backing is worth more than the pattern on the front.
Choosing against the tree, not in isolation
A skirt is a large block of color at the base of the room's focal point, and it is looked at in daylight far more than the tree is looked at lit.

Storing a skirt so it is flat next year
Fold along the existing seams rather than rolling, keep it out of the bottom of a deep tote, and do not store it under anything heavy. A double-layer skirt recovers from a crease and a single-layer printed one frequently does not.
Textiles belong in the driest space available rather than the most convenient — the allocation is on attic, garage or basement.
