The best Christmas window clings, measured against the glass
Clings are the decoration renters and apartment dwellers can actually use. Sheet size, piece count and double-sided printing decide which set fills a window.
By Sawyer V. · Published

Window clings are the Christmas decoration for glass you are not allowed to drill, screw or stick anything permanent to: rentals, apartments, storefronts and the inside of a storm door. They come off in January with a fingernail and go back in the box.
The trap is scale. A bag of 300 snowflakes and a single 27 in panel are sold in the same category and do completely different jobs. Five sets below, one to skip.

Good
- Big enough to fill a sash: four panels at 15 x 27 in cover most of a standard window
- Double-sided, so the room sees the scene as well as the street
- White silhouettes read against both a lit room at night and daylight
Watch out
- Large panels need a careful, bubble-free application on clean glass
- One design family — a town silhouette, not a variety pack

Good
- 300 pieces is enough for every window in a house, plus mirrors and a glass door
- Static cling, so nothing adhesive touches the glass
- Snowflakes stay up through January when Santa cannot
Watch out
- Small individual pieces mean a lot of placing, and they scatter rather than compose
- Sheet size not published

How we ranked these
Published sheet size first, because that is what decides whether a set fills a window or speckles it. Then piece count, then whether the print reads from both sides, then how it stores for next year.
| Set | Pieces | Sheet size | Design | Double sided |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| DIYDEC 4 panel | 4 | 15.1 x 27.3 in | Winter town silhouette | Yes |
| DIYDEC single | Not stated | 15.7 x 27.5 in | White house scene | Not stated |
| Ivenf | 2 sheets | Not stated | Santa, snowman, watercolor | Not stated |
| Famoby | 300 on 10 sheets | Not stated | Snowflakes | Not stated |
| LUDILO | 135 | Not stated | Snowflakes | Not stated |
Two listings publish a panel size; the rest publish a count only.

How much glass a panel covers
The arithmetic
- Example window sash: 30 x 54 in (an assumption — measure yours)
- Area: 30 x 54 = 1,620 sq in
- DIYDEC panel: 15.1 x 27.3 = 412 sq in
- 4 panels = 1,648 sq in
Four large panels cover one standard window, or spread two panels each across two smaller windows. A 300-piece snowflake pack covers the same window in scattered dots — a completely different look, and the right one for a bay or a row of small panes.
Printed both sides, or only for the street
The DIYDEC 4-panel set is the only one here printed on both faces, which means the room sees the scene rather than the back of a sticker. That matters on the window a family sits beside all December. Everything else is effectively a display for the street, best paired with a lit room behind it — the same rule as on Halloween window decorations.
Panels or a pile of snowflakes
The two approaches are not competitors. Big panels make a picture window into a scene; a 300-piece snowflake pack scatters across every window in the house, including bathroom and door glass, and reads as frost. If you are decorating one front window, buy panels. If you want the whole front of the house to say something, buy a big count and treat it like snow.
Clings and light
A cling is a silhouette, and a silhouette needs light behind it after dark. Pair front-window clings with window candles, or plan the whole facade with Christmas window decorating, which covers the candle, wreath and light layers that go with the glass.
Why the LUDILO pack is the skip
The LUDILO pack is the same snowflake idea as the Famoby with 135 pieces instead of 300, and neither a sheet count nor a sheet size published. In a category where the only real decision is how much glass you are covering, take the one that tells you how many sheets arrive.
Questions
›How many window clings do I need for one window?
Four 15 x 27 in panels cover a 30 x 54 in sash almost exactly. For scattered snowflakes, plan on a few dozen per window.
›Do window clings work on both sides of the glass?
Put them on the inside. Only one set here is printed on both faces, so the room sees the design as well as the street.
›Are Christmas window clings reusable?
Static clings are, if you store them flat on their backing sheet. Clean, dry glass is what they need to hold.
›Will clings show at night?
Only with light behind them. Pair front-window clings with window candles or a lamp in the room.
