A lamp post at the end of a driveway, a mailbox post at the curb and a porch column are the three uprights most houses already own, and all three are decorated the same way: a spiral of garland, a bow at the top, a string of lights through it.

How much garland a post takes
The arithmetic
- Our garland rule: a spiral wrap needs about 1.33 x the length of the run
- Knitgrip garland: 6 ft
- 6 / 1.33 = about 4.5 ft of post covered
- A typical residential lamp post: 7 ft to the lantern
One 6 ft garland spirals about 4.5 ft of post — enough to dress the top half of a 7 ft lamp post, which is the half people see. To wrap a full post from base to lantern, buy two kits or add a length from our garland page.

Solar, because posts have no outlets
A lamp post at the end of a drive is usually the farthest point from any outdoor socket, which is why three of these kits are solar. The trade is the one on solar vs plug-in outdoor lighting: in December the panel gets a short, low sun, so expect fewer hours than the box claims. If the post is shaded all day, run a cord and use plug-in lights instead.

Any of these has enough wire for the dressed section of a post. The extra length on the Yinder is what lets you carry the lights down onto a mailbox or across to a nearby shrub.
The bow does the work
A bow at the top of a post is the detail that makes the wrap look deliberate. The kits include a 20 x 11 in bow, which suits a standard lamp post. The Janinka velvet bows are a different animal at 32 x 71 in including the tails: too big for a mailbox, right for a porch column or a gatepost. Why the wreath 4-pack is the skip
The Suncalla set is four wreaths and nothing else: no garland, no lights, no published diameter. A wreath hung halfway up a bare post reads as an afterthought. Buy a kit with the spiral and the light, and keep wreaths for doors, where our wreath rankings apply.
