How much a real tree drinks
A widely published rule of thumb, from the National Christmas Tree Association, is that a fresh tree can take up to about a quart of water a day for each inch of trunk diameter.
The arithmetic

- A 5 in trunk: 5 quarts = 1.25 gallons a day
A typical 7 ft tree can drink about a gallon a day in its first week — more than many stands hold. That is why the stand runs dry overnight, and why a waterer that makes topping up easy matters.

Reach and tube
The 60 in funnel is the longest here, for a big, full tree whose stand you cannot see. The 35 in funnel suits a 6 to 7 ft tree and breaks into three sections for storage. The SUNEZLGO uses adjustable metal tubes, which do not kink or sag — the flexible ones need tying to the trunk.
Hide the tube, save the skirt
Run the tube down the back of the trunk, where the branches hide it, and let the funnel sit among the lower branches.
