Orange and purple string lights are the Halloween equivalent of warm white at Christmas: the base layer every other decoration sits in. A porch rail, a hedge or a doorframe outlined in them reads as Halloween from the end of the street before anything else is visible.

The JMEXSUSS is plug-in and connectable: it runs every evening of October without a battery change, and several strings chain from one outlet. That is the right choice for anything within reach of an outlet — a porch rail, a front hedge, a doorway.
Battery strings go where there is no outlet: a mailbox, a tree out in the yard, a wreath on a door. The lead between the battery box and the first LED is what lets the box sit hidden behind a pot rather than hanging off the display — and it is worth saying that nothing in this field publishes that figure any more.
