The best Thanksgiving inflatables, for the month between Halloween and Christmas

The Halloween inflatable comes down on November 1 and the Christmas one goes up after Thanksgiving. A turkey fills the gap. Height, lighting and anchoring decide which.

By Sawyer V. · Published

Pumpkins arranged on a front porch in autumn

A November yard is usually the emptiest of the year. The Halloween display is back in the bins and the Christmas lights are not up yet. A lit turkey fills that month, and it uses the same stakes, tethers and outlet as the inflatables on either side of it.

Every turkey below is lit and self-inflating. What separates them is size and how much anchoring hardware the listing names. Five below, one to skip.

How we ranked these

Anchoring first, because an inflatable that blows into the street is worse than none. Then height, lighting and how much the listing publishes. None of these listings publishes blower wattage, so no turkey wins or loses on that.

The November window

The arithmetic

  1. Halloween display down: November 1
  2. Thanksgiving 2026: Thursday, November 26
  3. November 1 to 26 = 26 nights, plus the holiday weekend
  4. On a 6 h timer: 26 x 6 = 156 hours of run time

A turkey runs for about a month, then hands its stakes and its outlet to the Christmas inflatable. Thanksgiving is the fourth Thursday of November, so it always lands between November 22 and 28 and the window is always three to four weeks.

6 ft or 8 ft

The arithmetic

  1. 6 ft turkey = 72 in, about an adult's height
  2. 8 ft turkey = 96 in
  3. Standard front door: 80 in
  4. 96 / 72 = 1.33

An 8 ft turkey is a third taller than a 6 ft one and stands taller than the front door, which is what makes it read from the end of the street. On a small lawn or a townhouse strip, 6 ft is the right scale.

The Gardwin is 8 ft long rather than 8 ft tall — a wide, low football turkey for a long lawn, and the only one here for a house that watches the game.

Anchoring is the spec

The Joiedomi listing names everything: a sand bag, two tethers, four ground stakes and a UL-certified plug. That completeness is why it ranks first over bigger turkeys. The 8 ft turkey names tie-down points; use every one. For the rest, use the kit you already own from the Halloween or Christmas inflatable. The full method — stakes, tethers and which way to face it into the wind — is on anchoring an inflatable.

The swap from Halloween

A yard that runs a Halloween inflatable already has the stakes, the tethers, the outdoor outlet and the timer in place. The turkey goes into the same spot on November 1. It comes down Thanksgiving weekend, and the Christmas inflatables go up in the same footprint.

The rest of a Thanksgiving front

A turkey on the lawn and a table inside cover the day. The porch in between is on Thanksgiving decorations, and the whole calendar from September to December is on the September-to-December porch plan.

Questions

When should Thanksgiving inflatables go up?

November 1, when the Halloween display comes down. Thanksgiving lands between November 22 and 28, so a turkey runs three to four weeks before the Christmas inflatable takes its spot.

How big should a Thanksgiving inflatable be?

6 ft, about an adult’s height, suits a small lawn. 8 ft stands taller than an 80 in front door and reads from the end of the street.

How do you keep a turkey inflatable from blowing over?

Use every stake and tether it comes with; the Joiedomi names a sand bag, two tethers and four stakes. Unplug it and let it collapse before a storm.

Can I reuse my Halloween inflatable's stakes and timer?

Yes. Stakes, tethers, the outlet and the timer carry straight over from the Halloween spot to the turkey, and then to the Christmas inflatable.
