A lantern on the step and a row of pillars on the mantel are fall's classic light. Waterproofing, diameter and a timer decide which set goes where.

Flameless candles solve the two problems real ones have on a porch: the wind blows them out, and an open flame on a step full of costumed trick-or-treaters is a bad idea. An LED pillar with a flicker and a timer does the job for two months without a match.
The catch is that most flameless candles are indoor products. Only one set here is sold as waterproof; the rest belong on a mantel or inside a lantern under a deep porch roof. We ranked with that split in mind. Five below, one to skip.

Porch or mantel
The waterproof 12-piece set is the only one the listing puts outdoors, which makes it the pick for this hub: open porch lanterns, an outdoor table, the step. The real-wax sets look better up close, and they are the right choice for a mantel or a lantern tucked under a deep porch roof. None of them is sold for rain.

Ivory or birch
Ivory pillars suit any season. The Enpornk’s birch bark finish is the harvest look, and it carries on to Christmas on a mantel. The RY King’s 3 in pillars are for wide hurricane glasses and big lanterns, where a slim 2.2 in candle looks lost. Arranging them is on mantel decorating.
Why the 12-pack of identical pillars is the skip
The Hausware set is well documented and the wrong shape for either job on this page. Twelve candles, 3 inches across, every one of them 4 inches tall: no height variation for a mantel, and too short to show above the rim of most porch lanterns. Every other set here publishes a graduated range that builds height along a shelf.
It is a skip on what the listing says rather than on what it leaves out, which is the rarer case in this category and the easier one to act on.
