How high to hang a ghost
The rule is that the hem clears the head of the tallest person walking underneath. Taking a 6 ft adult as the reference:
The arithmetic
- 47 in ghost: 72 in (adult) + 47 in = 119 in, about 10 ft to the hook
- 5 ft ghost: 72 in + 60 in = 132 in = 11 ft to the hook
- A ghost over a flower bed, not a path: hang as low as looks right
A 47 in ghost over a walkway needs its hook at about 10 ft; a 5 ft ghost at 11 ft. That is a branch, not a porch ceiling — which is why the bigger ghosts go in trees.
Control from the ground
