A giant rope spider web is the Halloween decoration with the best effect for the least money, and the one most reliably ruined by physics. It is only as good as the anchor points you can find for it, and in the dark it is invisible unless something lights it.

Only the swagon set says its figure is a diameter. The others publish a size without saying whether it is a diameter or an edge length.

What the size figure actually means
Web size is the headline number and the least defined one. The swagon set says 11.8 ft diameter, round. Every other listing prints a length — 16 ft, 200 inches, 23 ft — without saying whether that is across the circle or along one edge of a triangular web.
The arithmetic
- 200 in / 12 = 16.7 ft

The field runs from under 12 ft to 23 ft, a factor of nearly two. Measure the gap you want to fill before choosing, and buy the web whose published figure is a little larger than the gap — a web stretched past its size sags in the middle.
The spider has to be in scale
A small spider on a huge web looks like an afterthought; a huge spider on a small web looks like a mistake. The ratio between them is the thing to check.
The arithmetic

The two biggest spiders sit at about a third of the web, which reads as a creature that owns it. At 15 percent, the JIABNUKKN spider reads as a visitor — fine from the walk, lost from the street.
Anchor points decide everything
A rope web needs to be stretched from several points around its edge, and the points need to be structural — a tree trunk, a porch post, a gutter bracket, a stake driven deep. A web hung from two points is a hammock.
The heavier the spider, the more the web pulls. The 200 in web’s 60 in spider puts real load on whatever it hangs from, and in wind that load moves. Tie it to something that is actually fixed. The general principles are on anchoring a yard piece.
The only lit web, and lighting the rest
The inst web carries 290 LEDs across 23 feet with eight modes, and it is the only thing on this page still visible at 8 pm. That makes it the pick for most displays — but it also needs a cord run to wherever the web goes, which is usually between two trees and nowhere near an outlet.
The unlit webs need a light raking across them. White rope under a colored light from one side becomes a glowing lattice; the same web lit from the front vanishes against the house. The method is on Halloween display lighting, and safe cord runs on extension cords.
Porch web or yard web
The swagon set’s 11.8 ft round web fits a porch opening or a large window, and its two giant spiders let you place one on the web and one climbing the wall. The 16 ft and larger webs are yard pieces — tree to gutter, or across a corner of the house.

Taking it down so it goes up again
The rope web and the spiders reuse for years. Stretch cobweb does not: once it has been stretched and weathered it is one-season material, and trying to save it produces a tangled grey ball.

A little larger than the gap you want to fill. Around 12 ft fits a porch opening; 16 ft and up is a yard piece strung between a tree and the house. A web stretched past its size sags in the middle.
